During the completion of this course I realized how difficult and challenging learning a new language can be. There is so much more to it than simply learning how to communicate. To really be fluent one has to learn not only the vocabulary and grammar, which can be difficult even for a native english speaker, but also the smaller language and pronunciation subtleties, as well as cultural aspects influencing the language. As I have never learned a new language, I learned how very detailed and intricate the process is. Students learning english, especially adults, have accepted this challenge and that, to me, is very admirable. I have, through my limited experiences working in an adult english class, been inspired by these students, but did not fully realize until this course, how different is it for them than for children. I have many years experience teaching young learners, so it was very eye-opening to learn about how adults learn and how their classroom experiences are different and in some way, more complex. I obviously wanted to teach english before this course, but now I am even more motivated to help people of all ages learn english and to be a part of their journey.
