Unit 2 is all about parts of speech which is essential in making a sentence. Nouns names people places and things which could be under common, proper, compound, abstract and collective. Nouns are essentially expressed in either singular and plural forms which could either be countable or uncountable. Adjectives on the other hand describes a noun. They give us an idea of how nouns such as what is the shape of an object or the height of a person. Adjectives comes in comparison form either Comparative or Superlative form. Articles, the, a, and an is a challenging part of the unit as many unconventional rules apply to it but basically, it all goes to whether they are indefinite which uses either 'a' or 'an' or definite which uses 'the'. Many do's and don't have to be learn when it comes to using the three articles which in time can be familiarized. Verbs are the doing or action words. They can be categorized as either transitive verbs, which is directly followed by an object receiving the action, or intransitive verbs which simply tells of the action being done by the subject. Verb comes in many forms which at some point is quite tricky because of its irregular forms. Adverbs on the other hand describes verbs, adjectives, and other adverbs. They can mainly be classified into main forms such as Manner, Place, Time, degree, Frequency and most often ends with an 'ly'. Gerund are the simplest part of the unit which simply is a verb ending with 'ing' and is used as a noun. Pronouns are replacement for a noun which exist either in personal, possessive, reflexive, or relative form. Prepositions are words that show relationship between a noun or pronoun to other parts of a sentence. Often they are of time or Date, movement, place and position Type. Examples of which are on, at, from, next and more. Conjunctions joins words or groups in a sentence like the word 'and' which joins words of the same class. It could also be used to join clauses of a sentence like the word 'as'. These are just but the most common or a brief overview of the parts of speech which would all be essential component in leaning English as a language.
