Unit 2: Parts of Speech is a grammar based unit that explores the different parts of speech that make up the English language. This unit covers basic grammar such as nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs, as well as lesser known subjects such as gerunds. Each grammar unit is provided with an explanation and examples, starting with basic sentence structure, nouns- their usage and types, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, and Prepositions/Conjunctions.
Grammar is important because it is the language that makes it possible for us to talk about language. Grammar names the types of words and word groups that make up sentences not only in English but in any language. This unit gave a solid basic foundation of grammar techniques, and the most common areas that will likely be needed when teaching to students. I learnt from this unit that using examples with very basic explanations is the best way to teach grammar. ",
