Unit 2 has given me a solid foundation from which to build up my English language teaching skills. Surprisingly, I did not initially know many of the elements that were introduced in this unit, despite the fact that these patterns have been deeply engrained within me since childhood. I realize it is vital to understand these rules of placement and usage so that I can relay this knowledge to my future students. I inherently understand the usage of articles, for example, but I could not have provided any categories or background explanation of definite or indefinite articles. After this unit, I feel much more confident with some of these basics that are often overlooked by native English speakers, and I find myself labeling the parts of speech in my own writing and speaking!
