Unit 2 detailed parts of speech for the English language. It is amazing how much a native English speaker will just know from reading or hearing as correct or incorrect sentence structure without knowing proper terminology to explain the reason. This is a good reason I explain to my students to read out loud their sentences to catch errors to self-correct their work. I have also compared the making of a sentence as following a recipe. For every sentence you need a subject /noun and an action/verb. Then it depends what you want to make as in a recipe or what you want to tell/say as in a sentence. How much information do you have? What are your ingredients to make something? Then like a recipe the order you follow to put things together has a big impact on what you produce for communication.
