This unit covers the basic grammatical units of the English language, or parts of speech. These concepts can be difficult for both teachers and students, as native speakers often employ these features of language in their everyday speech without realising that they are using them or what they are called. In my own personal experience, we were not explicitly taught many of these principals as part of our schooling, but rather through experience and experimenting with the language. My first encounter with many of these grammatical terms was in learning a second language, which is often the case for native English speakers. These building blocks of English are best explained with examples, showing their function and usage within specific contexts.
