In this second unit, I learned more about English grammar and the different parts of speech. It is important for a teacher to understand and be able to explain grammar to students. First, the unit examined types of nouns and how they can be either countable or uncountable. I then learned more about adjectives and making comparisons using either comparatives or superlatives. The unit also discussed the usage of the indefinite articles (a and an) if the modified noun is general, and the definite article (the) if the modified noun is more specific. I then learned about how a verb can be classified as either a transitive or intransitive verb depending on whether it is followed by an object. The unit also delved into the different types of pronouns, from personal subject and object pronouns to possessive pronouns. I was reminded of the difference between possessive pronouns that replace nouns and possessive adjectives that describe nouns.
