The unit gives an overview, description, explanation and examples of the various parts of speech of the English language. Distinctions between the different types of some of these parts of speech are explained as well. It's interesting to note that, as a native English speaker, I can effortlessly speak properly using all the various parts of speech without having to stop and think of the rules or even knowing what all the parts of speech are called. I've learned that English - like all languages - has it rules and exceptions to rules. The chapter has made me aware of the difficulties ESL students will face, and the challenges I will face in teaching them, and the care and understanding I must exhibit when teaching.
