One challenge that teachers face is teaching to different levels. Even with pre-testing it is bound to happen. You can deal with the challenge in a variety of ways. You can split the group into two or more levels and provide them with different materials/lessons but keep the same theme so that the whole class can come together for some activities. You can also use the same materials but give them different tasks. Or you can pair a more advanced student with a newer student. You could also do nothing and assume the gap won't increase but will stay the same. Of course there is some danger that the newer/lower student could be come discouraged or the stronger student could become bored. It is good to keep extra work on hand for those that finish early.
