This unit discusses the parts of speech that are contained within a sentence in the English language. This unit has refreshed my memory from all of the years of learning English as my native language, and in some ways understanding the concepts of the parts of speech better than during those elementary years. I have also learned that in the English language there are so many exceptions to the various parts of the speech that there is no rule or pattern in which the students can follow. The student must simply memorize certain words. This has given me a greater respect and sympathy for students of English and makes me more eager to know my subjects so that I can teach them correctly, helping my students gain that confidence in learning the English language.
