Unit two explains the fundamental components to English grammar while providing many examples to help students understand different ways of constructing sentences. Unit two focuses on the use of nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, propositions and conjunctions to create coherent and precise sentences. I learned more than I anticipated from this chapter. Specifically, I am now more aware of the skills and techniques required by teachers to instruct lessons on English grammar. Furthermore, I have been unaware of the term ?gerunds? which describes a verb used as a noun. Gerunds are used as subjects or objects and finish with ing. ?Playing tennis is fun? is an example where "Playing"" is the gerund and it is used as the subject of the sentence."
