This unit covered the different parts of speech that make up a typical sentence in English. It covered nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions, articles, gerunds, and pronouns.
I learned that English has many more exceptions to the rules of grammar than I first realized. Though I knew the basic definition of most the parts of speech I did not know about the different categories of these parts of speech such as uncountable and countable nouns and transitive and intransitive verbs.
Though I knew proper grammar and sentence structure through being a native speaker of English, this unit showed me the rules of grammar so I will now know the logical reason(s) why a sentence is not grammatically correct instead of simply relying on whether or not it sounds right to me.
