I am finding this course a lot harder than I first anticipated and am not sure if I will be able to complete it in the 6 months allowed as I have other commitments. Having said that I think I have leant more from these first two units that I ever did at School, although that was many years ago This unit contained information about basic grammar and the parts of speech. In it, we covered nouns, adjectives, articles, verbs, adverbs, gerunds, pronouns, prepositions, and conjunctions. I believe that this will be helpful for me in teaching my students and I hope to keep my notes from this chapter as I move forward as review material. I have a much clearer understanding of each of the parts of speech. As a native speaker of English, it is easy to forget or not think about the rules behind our language. Looking over the 9 main parts of speech has made me realize I need to pay much more attention to all the random rules involved.
