There are different parts of speech including nouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, articles, conjunctions, prepositions and pronouns. Each part of speech has rules associated with it and guidelines for usage. Many exceptions exist in English that may make learning more difficult for students of English.
In general:
-noun = person, place, thing, idea / concept
-verb = action or state of being
-adverb = describe verbs
-adjective = describes nouns
-articles = a, an, the
-conjunctions = join clauses / phrases
-prepositions = indicate (relative) position

Well reflection on this chapter is basically that many terms have changes since the time I was in primary.
