The course has been instrumental in helping me revise the basics of grammar. The units on tenses, modals, and reported and conditional speeches have been very helpful in writing papers for my degree. And as someone who aspires to write a young adult novel someday, the grammar revision has basically helped me to become a better editor. It has also helped me become better at close-reading.
Understanding the various aspects needed to successfully teach english – particularly class management, ESA lesson planning technique, receptive skills and productive skills – has helped me demystify the process into learnable steps. I have also come to appreciate the good teachers I have had because I now realize that their skill was not necessarily a matter of talent as it was of being well-prepared.
Probably obvious, I hope to find a job in the next few months teaching english as a foreign language. It will give me the opportunity to put into practice the lessons I have learned through this course. I hope this will be the first step in my life's goal of becoming an educator and a writer.
