Teach English in Vaughan - TEFL Courses

Doing the 120 hour tesol certificate has taught me more than I thought it would. It has helped me so much during my first 4 months as an efl teacher. The 20 lessons are very applicable to my current situation and my teaching has improved much faster because of them. The grammar that that was presented in the lessons has improved my grammar. I considered myself weak in this area, especially in understanding different grammar terms. It has been so long since I have studied such grammar that this refresher has helped me reach a new level of understanding the english language. I am now more confident teaching grammar in front of my classes. I found lesson 13, on phonetics and phonology, to be very interesting. I now often focus on my student's pronunciation and try to correct their tongue position. I understand how important it is that they see my mouth when I speak so they can adjust their mouth accordingly. It is encouraging to see my student's pronunciation improve because of this. The practice I have done with lesson planning has really helped me make my classes more engaging and interesting. I now consider balancing class time between engage, activate, and study stages. The lesson plans I have done for tesol have also given me numerous ideas that I can use for class. The lessons have also provided me with many activities that I can use in my classes. This is an area that my academy has not provided much for me. So I will save these lessons and use the resources in them to continually supplement my teaching. The most important thing I have gained is the ability to progress in my teaching career. This certificate should make me more competitive in the job market. I now know that I want to be an efl teacher for more than one year and maybe it could be my career.
