Teach English in Cornwall - TEFL Courses

One of the biggest things I've been reminded of is that a ‘rule' in language is often a ‘guideline'. Basics rules are somewhat easy to learn, but then going beyond the basics can be mind boggling. The examples and explanations of the parts of english were very well laid out with great examples in the course material. Showing the structures in a formula format really helped and I have found that it helps students too. I also was reminded of how much english, by definition, I had forgotten over the years. The questions “Why?” has taught me more then anything, especially when I have to go research an answer. I can remember myself often going ‘Oh, really! That's why we do that.' I sure don't remember the english class where we covered it, but I do it so I must have been there at some point. The struggles I've had in this course have truly given me a heart of patience for students. I have tried to tell them not to overwhelm themselves with the ‘all' but start out doing a few things well. Being able to write them and say them well and with out having to think or translate. The rest will come with time. In the area I live there are a lot of international students, spanish speaking and refugees, so the opportunity to use my love of teaching, out going personality, information and references from this course and the idea that no one should ever really retire, should keep me busy. This course has given me an abundance of resources to work with and many wonderful ideas that can help me be the best teacher I can for my students, as I am a student of them.
