I have learned so much information from taking this course. I have been teaching for 6 years and I realize that teacher never stop learning new strategies and techniques to help their students.
Since I am currently working now with Asian students I have experienced some challenges and some success. It has taught me to appreciate a different culture and their language. Taking this course has given me more confidence to works with students of esl and it has allowed me to put some of what I've learned in to practice. There are so many strategies to use to help students learn easy, but one that sticks with me the most is “fun”. We have to make learning english fun and exciting for the students. We must be entertainers in our own classrooms. If we are bored the students will more than likely be bored as well. Students tend to feed of the energy of the teacher. Lastly, I have learned gained an insight on how english should be taught and what should be avoided. An effective teacher is one who is flexible and sensitive to the needs of the students. english is ever changing!
