Since I was not an education major in college, this course has been very beneficial in helping me to create lesson plans and think about possible classroom scenarios. Of course, I know the material will become that much more valuable when I am actually in the classroom, but even so, the class did a good job of forcing me to “imagine” the situations and my reactions to those situations. Even though I was familiar with many of the mechanics of the grammar topics, I was not sure how to approach teaching those mechanics to another person, so the examples and practice that this course offered benefitted me in my teaching skills. I am currently applying for esl jobs in a few different countries, so I will be able to put all of these materials into action when I first arrive in the classroom. Even though I know many of the lessons only covered certain topics, the material provided quite a few additional resources that I will be able to look into as I am looking for more teaching ideas while I am in my classroom.
