So the present simple is most basically used to describe routines and habits or facts and truths. The present continuous is usually used to tell about things that are being done currently. Present perfect sentences relate the past to the present. I have never been able to identify or sufficiently explain the differences between these present tenses. This unit has made these differences more transparent and has provoked more thought from me about how I would explain them to a student.
