The instructor needs to consider how a non-native student learns new language. They need to be exposed to language at an appropriate level. They need to learn grammar usage and then put what they've learned into practice. The instructor can help with error correction and make sure they're in a supportive positive environment to learn and practice. I learned about the ESA method of teaching which one can use to better involve students by activating their interests. The study section is our traditional teaching method and the activate is our formative or non-formative assessment. This lesson also explained very well different methodologies used and some of the "big names"" in language learning/acquisition." This unit used videos to highlight the differences in a good lesson and a bad lesson. I was surprised to realize that I had actually done some of the "bad"" behavior in my own classes.
