This section helped me to understand the various- and vast array- of parts of a sentence, and language as a whole. I also found that there were aspects of speech I had a very basic understanding of; but now have a better understanding due to this unit. This unit also highlighted the complexities of the English language. This unit dealt with the different parts of speech that make up a sentence. I learned the specific terminology that is used to further classify parts of speech beyond their basic designations. I also learned that although there are many rules to properly form sentences, many exceptions exist which can frustrate learners. I learned a lot about the proper names of the parts of speech that I would have otherwise overlooked. As a native speaker of English I simply know how to use the words without really paying attention to what each part of speech is called.
