Although English teachers are native English speakers and speak it well, we are unaware of what we are using or why. Learning and reviewing basics grammar rules will help teachers teach it better. It helps becoming aware of what and why we need to teach it. That important base and common knowledge of the grammar system, from what a noun is to recognizing a regular or irregular verb, should be well learned by the one who will teach it. It is not necessary to memorize every single rule and definition, but the more you practice and refresh your memory, the more confidence your students will see in you.
