I had a pretty good handle on most of these grammar points already. The aspects which were either new, or things I only half understood were adverbs, and transitive versus intransitive verbs. Gerunds I already understood, though I did not know the correct term for them. I now know that adverbs are similar to adjectives, but the difference is what they describe. Adverbs describe an action (a verb), but adjectives describe nouns, such as objects.
