I have gained insights of the english language that I had no knowledge of before. It is easy for us to speak it and use it every day but the complexity of how the grammar and rules come together is very interesting to say the least. It is quiet a challenging language to learn and to be able to teach but nevertheless a fruitful asset to gain. An example would be that the tenses are broken into 12 parts and not 3 as it is commonly thought of and this helps to define grammar and vocabulary precisely. Throughout this course I believe I have gained confidence in being able to put material together and provide a beneficial yet entertaining lesson as I have understood and learned the value of lesson plans and its structure. It has guided me in planning and implementing a lesson plan through the value of its engage, study and activate stages; how it all plays a strategical yet effective part in conducting a good lesson. Learning the usefulness of students own talk time where the teacher's input should be kept to a minimal, has been greatly understood specially on how the activate stage ideally brings this out from a student. The importance of the different materials and equipment to use has also given me an insight into its value and how not to conduct a boring and repetitive lesson! The last thing you'd want to be is a boring teacher where students won't look forward to such a class and that it could directly distance them from learning. Many other aspects of this course have been useful and I can only imagine I will be frequently examining the course material over again and gaining others for further insight and personal development. I plan to put this knowledge into action by teaching children in South America. english is becoming a predominant language and a necessity in terms of acquiring respective jobs, building a sound career, developing education and as well as communicating whilst traveling. I believe it is best to begin teaching children so that they have a higher chance of grasping it well and that it will assist with their future education and prospects, especially in the more remote or less fortunate communities.
