In Unit 2 the parts of speech were covered. Nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives, adverbs, articles, and prepositions were all expected. But I actually learned of the term Gerund while working on this unit. I understood the theory behind making a present participle verb into a couple different parts of speech, but had no label for that grammatical phenomenon. This section gives the general rules and guidelines to understanding the English language and how the pieces fit together. Although brief, the section attempts to fully summarize and explain what each word in a sentence is, and how order is determined so as to promote proficiency and ease in speaking the language. This unit is going to be a good resource to explain the parts of a speech to my students in the classroom. We are used to write without observing gramatical sense. It is quite hard to remember all the verbs but if students read more, they can understand the difference.
