Parts of speech are basic units that help us to build sentences. Even the simplest sentences consist of various parts of speech such as nouns, verbs, pronouns, conjunctions and prepositions. The more complicated the sentence gets, the more parts of speech will be used in it. It is very important to be able to differentiate between them, and to know how to use them appropriately.
It can be seen that, when logically explained, parts of speech can be easy enough to understand. However, various difficulties might arise with the use of some of these parts, such as, for example, the place of adverbs or adjectives in the sentence, or forming the past simple and past participle of the irregular verbs. The latter has to be memorised, as there is no logic in it. However, it is possible to use certain patterns to understand where the adjective or adverb has to be put in the sentence.
