This unit classifies different parts of speech. Nouns are people, places, things, etc. They can be proper or common and countable or uncountable. Adjectives describe nouns. Definite articles are used when describing something specific, while indefinite articles are used to describe something general. Verbs are actions or states. When a verb acts on an object, it is transitive. If a verb can not be followed by an object, it is intransitive. Pronouns are general terms used in place of a specific noun when the meaning is known to the listener. They can be possessive or personal. Prepositions show relationship between noun and another part of sentence, while conjunctions join 2 parts of sentence together.
