Unit 2 exaMined the structure of the English language. The unit taught the parts of speech that every English language teacher should be able to identify and analyze. The unit discussed the types of nouns, pronouns, including possessive adjectives, e.g my and her verses possessive pronouns as in mine and hers. The unit explained in depth the use of the definite article - THE, indefinite articles - A/AN and the zero article. Adjectives and their comparative and superlative forms were also studied. A somewhat large section looked at verbs; transitive and intransitive verbs, regular and irregular verbs, and auxiliary verbs. A small section was devoted to gerunds and it expertly explained that gerunds are verbs that are used as nouns for example in the sentence ?Studying is a chore but not at ITTT.? The many types of Adverbs were explained as well as prepositions and conjunctions.
