This unit contained topics concerning nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, gerunds, prepositions and conjunctions. Nouns are names of people, things, places and animals and they are usually used as subjects in a sentence. Pronouns are substitute words for nouns. Verbs are words that denote an action and normally follows after the noun or pronoun at the beginning of a sentence. Adjectives are words used to describe a noun and they have several rules in terms of order. One rule included in the unit is the following, size-age-colour-material-noun. Adverbs are similar to adjectives as they are descriptive words but they are applied to verbs. Articles are placed Before the noun and can be divided into 2 groups, indefinite which uses 'a' or 'an' and definite which uses 'the'. Gerunds are nouns that are in the -ing form while prepositions are used to show the relationship between nouns, pronouns or other words in a sentence and has no definite placement in a sentence structure. Finally, cojunctions are used to join words, phrases, clauses and sentences together.
