In this unit I have learned the advantages of using course books to plan and move along in my syllabus for a given class. In the past I used a lot of authentic materials in my classes but had always found it hard to find the specific material that I needed for my students. After studying this lesson I see the need to make more created materials so that I can better modify the lessons according to the students needs. Also the coursebooks have many advantages as opposed to creating the whole syllabus for the year by yourself but must not be relied upon totally or a teacher will not be flexible. Only using the course books could also lead to the class becoming predictable and boring for the students.
