I have personally gained many things through taking the online tesol course with ITTT. I have become more familiar with aspects of the english language such as grammar structures, modals, reported speech, and the passive voice – aspects of the language that previously I had little awareness of. As well, I have developed a better understanding of the verb tenses and how to present them to students in a way that they will understand. One of the most beneficial things I have learned is the ESA model, and how to plan and execute ESA style lessons. I have already been able to apply this immediately to my teaching and have seen positive results in my students' increasing ability to speak. Through the numerous lesson planning tasks in this course I have become more confident and efficient in planning ESA lessons, and I have been able to also build up a collection of lessons that I can actually use in future teaching. I have increased confidence in my english teaching ability and feel braver to try new things. I have appreciated the numerous websites and book recommendations that have come with the course, and have them printed off and kept in a readily available place for future use. I have enjoyed watching the DVDs, which have now become resource for teaching that I can go back to when needed. Finally, the course itself has become a valuable resource and reference book that I have printed off and now have in a binder in my library. I can imagine that I will refer back to it often as I seek to refresh my memory and find helpful teaching tools.
