This unit provided some basic information about the importance of lesson planning. Most teaching situations will benefit from the teacher being well-prepared by having thought through what needs to be taught and how to teach it. There were good practical suggestions about how to have the materials needed all ready to go--including making sure that the equipment is is working properly. Having everything ready beforehand is a good way to build confidence for the novice teacher. It is good to be aware that even the best plans might go awry--and to have back-up activities in mind. Good lesson plans will enable a substitute to carry on in case of the teacher's absence
