This course has been helpful to me for many reasons. First, I have
personally gained a lot from this course. I have recently started teaching
efl students. The major thing that I believe this course has given me
is confidence. I felt prepared for my first teaching experience. I was
glad to have taken this course rather than to start with no experience
or knowledge of teaching. I was also able to apply a lot of the things
I learned. For one, applying the “ESA” lesson style has been very
helpful. Before taking the course, I never would have thought to start
with an “engaging” type of activity to get the students warmed up
before diving into studying. I feel like this structure of a lesson has been
beneficial for my students. In addition, the grammar that I have learned
in this course has been very helpful. While preparing for lessons, I find
that I already know the grammar that must be taught because of the
course. Also I am able to answer questions that the students have and I
am able to explain the grammar rules a lot better. I had forgotten a lot
of the basic grammar rules before taking the ITTT course. A lot of the
class management techniques that I have learned have also been helpful.
Overall, this course has started me off on the right track. applying what
I have learned from this course in my lessons has improved my teaching
and has made me more prepared for my first teaching experience.
