Teach English in Lydney - TEFL Courses
I have learned so much from this course:
1) That I was right in taking it. Having worked in international environments some people told me I could just start giving private english lessons. I disagreed, because I thought I knew that knowing something yourself and teaching someone else are 2 different things. This course has indeed proven that.
2) Leading on from point 1: this course has taught me more of the ins and outs of teaching. I know for a fact that learning to teach is not easy and you certainly won't be a teacher when you just follow the course. However, it is the first stepping stone. The basis has been laid and now I need to start building from here. Before I started this course I had no idea what it took to be a teacher. Now I know a bit more about lesson plans, dealing with students, teaching principles etc.
3) I have learned that, even though I use english constantly, there are certain grammar rules that I wasn't aware of. That needs extra studying too. However, this is great, I think. Keeping on learning is an important part of life and one you can share with your students too.
How do I plan to put into action what I have learned? Well, I have got 1 test student who loves my lessons. I will use the techniques and tools I learned in this course and implement them in these classes. Also: I am teaching my goddaughter english already and have started doing this in a different way while following the course. This I will continue doing. The plan is to get paying students for private lessons and build up my teaching skills with that. I think to try and become an english teacher at a school now is still too far fetched, this needs more experience! However, this has put me on the road to teaching a language I love and I'm ever so grateful I decided to do this course.
