This unit for me was the most difficult .It took me a while to remember the symbols from the phonemic alphabet . I'm not sure but I think the phonetic alphabet is more usefull for non foreign students rather than mother tongue english speakers . It may help foreign students decide how to pronounce those ambiguous words that are written the same way but pronounced differently
