In Unit 7 is about teaching vocabulary as well as grammar patterns. An important factor when teaching a language is that the students have an understanding of the materials and a balance of grammar and vocabulary. I liked the analogy of the tree as the living language. You need both the tree trunk and branches (grammar) and the leaves (vocabulary and functions) to have a healthy and functioning tree. Without the other you would either have a pile of leaves or a naked tree. Along with the tree analogy there are factors one should use when selecting vocabulary and grammar for a lesson.
