Personally, this course has provided me with structure. It has shown me that there are methods for teaching everything and everyone in a variety of contexts – from grammar and vocabulary to young learners and adults. It’s comforting to know that so much methodology and so many materials have arisen from an increasingly popular subject. Specifically, being forced to devise lesson plans has also helped me. Lesson plans have enabled me to see more clearly what could be accomplished within one class, as well as encouraging me to think more creatively about how to deliver material. When I first begin to teach, I’ll definitely use the Engage, Study, and Activate stages as framework for planning a lesson. Overall, while still maintaining the importance of flexibility, being personally structured and prepared will hopefully help me to present a progressive and interesting course.
