In terms of land area this country ranks as the fifth largest in the world and provides great English teaching opportunities in nearly all cities and most towns. It is therefore not difficult for a TEFL qualified individual to find employment in this country. It is possible to obtain employment in Brazil from overseas but actually being in the country makes it far easier.

Employers usually pay salaries that afford teachers a good standard of living in Brazil.

A visitor’s visa is sufficient to enter Brazil in order to seek employment. Once in Brazil any one of a number of schools throughout the country can be contacted directly. It is not the rule that big cities will offer better employment prospects. If you choose to teach English in a smaller town you may well find that local inhabitants will be more forthright in showing their appreciation of your choice of their particular town and culture. If one of your goals is to experience real Brazilian culture then this option could be for you.

Salaries are not particularly rewarding in Brazil but private students may be obtained relatively easily which will increase your earning potential substantially, in some circumstances even by 100 percent. Always inform people you meet of your English teaching services and once you have some private lessons under your belt, students will usually recommend you personally to their friends and family.

Obtaining a job in Brazil, as with all other South American countries, is easier when actually in the country. Prior research with regard to your choice of location is also an advantage as it will show potential students that you have an active interest in their town or city and the actual desire to be there, as opposed to anywhere else. Schools will appreciate the choice you have made in this respect when you apply for employment.
