Egypt used to be one of the premier destinations for teaching English, but as use of the English language has spread in recent years, opportunities to teach in Egypt have increased because many Egyptian nationals are qualified to teach English themselves. Many positions are still available and Egypt still has a lot to offer in this respect, not least in terms of pay. In some locations such as the Sinai Desert, Cairo and Alexandria obtaining employment is still comparatively easy. There are many English teaching opportunities in the business and computer industries so knowledge of these areas will definitely be an advantage.

We would strongly advise that applicants for jobs in this country first obtain a tourist visa and go to Egypt before applying for employment. Although there are some publications which list employment opportunities in Egypt, our advice is to form contacts that will assist you in finding suitable openings by taking advantage of the services of a human resources department at an individual company or school.

Students in Egypt are some of the most highly motivated in the world due to the fact that nearly all of them are required to be fluent in English to secure a job themselves.
