The Country

France is one of the top locations for qualified TEFL teaching with Paris having the most job opportunities. The bias in Paris is towards business English courses and holders of any previous business qualifications and/or experience are therefore in very high demand. It is one of the easier countries for non-EU passport holders to secure employment. Anyone who has a BA degree or higher qualification and is comfortable in a business environment has a good chance of finding teaching employment. It goes without saying that a working knowledge of French is also a great advantage. A degree of flexibility and allowing time to find the right position for you are also required.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language is, in our opinion, one of the easiest forms of employment to obtain in France without actually having to physically be in the country. It is therefore advisable to begin your search for employment before you arrive. The majority of job opportunities in France are language school based private lessons. The French Government also provides an English Teaching Assistance Program for US citizens. Further information about this program can be obtained via the French Ministry of Education.

"English language school in Paris seeks TEFL qualified teacher with experience in creating and applying tailor made courses. The ideal candidate should be able to adapt classes to individual needs. You will be expected to monitor student’s progress and report to the principal. You should enjoy listening and pronunciation styles of teaching. Our school uses specific technology to improve listening and accelerate learning. We teach adults from companies and groups of artists. We teach mostly one to one with some group classes of up to four. The vacancy is initially part time, with a starting rate of 22€ / hour."
