The Country
Ireland poses a big challenge to those wishing to find English teaching employment if you are not a national of that country and even more of a challenge to non EU citizens. The city of Dublin does have some English teaching positions available in its language schools but the cost of living is expensive. Work in such schools may be inconsistent with hours of work and have relatively low pay levels. Outside of Dublin the cost of living may be cheaper but jobs will be even harder to come by.
TEFL teaching jobs do exist in private language schools, colleges and universities in Ireland. The high season for obtaining employment is during the summer holiday period - June through to September. A visa is not required for EU citizens. Another option is to obtain permission to work in Ireland through the Student Work Abroad Program. Our advice is to set out searching for employment by sending your curriculum vitae to language schools online. Once you receive a response you will be required to travel to Ireland to attend an interview in person.
