Classroom discipline is the aspect of teaching that I find most difficult and challenging. I spent a year teaching Spanish in a high school in a very poor community. I was responsible for 8 different classes and found that each class had it's own "personality" influenced greatly by the different students in each class, their age and grade and the time of day the class was held. As the day progressed, classroom management became more and more difficult. The class right after lunch was always loud and rambunctious. The last class of the day was the most challenging and unruly because the students were tired and by the end of the day simply wanted the school day to be over. There was also more violence in the school in the afternoons. This experiences makes me fear classroom discipline a bit for the future.
