In this Unit 2 I learnt many important things, such as methodologies and teaching methods that have most influenced current TEFL practice. For exemple: Grammar – translation, Audio – lingualism, Presentation, practice and production, Task-Based Learning, Communicative Language Teaching, among others. I also learnt about the ESA (Engage, study and activate) method, which is an effective method for achieving great results. Students need to be motivated, be exposed to the language and have the opportunity to use it, and the Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) is the most effective and the most logical of all the methodologies for new teachers to learn and apply in the classroom. And this is why ESA is the methodology focused in this course.
