Classroom Management refers to a wide variety of skills and techniques that teachers use to keep students organized, orderly, focused, attentive, on-task, and academically productive during a class. Teachers can minimize behaviors that impede learning for both individual students and group students by executing effective classroom management strategies. It will maximize the needed behavior that enhances learning. The hallmark of an effective teacher is strong classroom management skills, and our course serves to fulfill the desired purpose. Effective classroom management focuses mainly on compliance or the instructions that teachers may give students are sitting in their seats, following directions, listening attentively, etc. Classroom management encompasses teachers to improve student learning by including factors like behavior, positive attitude, motivating statements, respectful, unbiased behavior, and happy facial expressions. The classroom environment is also a significant factor which includes a welcoming well-lit classroom filled with learning materials that stimulate specific learning activities in students. Efficient classroom management also helps teachers get quality work from the students. Teachers expect the students to behave to fellow students and the agreement that the teacher makes with the students through verbal and body language. The types of texts, materials and learning resources that teachers use in the class and the kinds of learning experiences that the teachers' design to engage student interests, passions and intellectual curiosity is also a part of proper classroom management. Uninteresting learning materials, poorly designed lesson plans, unclear instructions could lead to student disinterest, behavioral problems such as unruly and disorganized classes. Thus good classroom teaching is directly related to proper classroom management. Learning classroom management techniques may appear dull. If one can successfully and seamlessly integrate them into instructions to students, it will lead to a significant amount of skill development and gathering of experience. In recent years classroom management has received a lot of attention from reformers, education leaders, and researchers who have analyzed the most effective strategies used by the teachers. Keeping in mind that strong management skills are the foundation of intense teaching, teachers can apply the classroom management strategies in their respective teaching atmosphere. Some common classroom problems you run into in the classroom: 1. Students are dependent on their teacher. They look around to the teacher for correction, instead of figuring it out themselves. 2. Student distracting others or rowdy. It may be the fault of the teacher or poor classroom management. 3. Persistent using their first language. The teacher must encourage students to use English and only English in the classroom. If students begin speaking in their first language, ask them a direct question like "do you have a question?" It's crucial in English class that it's English only. 4. Student hijacking the lesson. Teaching you can always count on one or more students trying to hijack the lesson, to some extent. It's not necessarily a bad thing. It shows that students interest, as long as they are participating and conversing in English, it is a productive experience. However, if the lesson strays too far off-topic, in a direction you don't want it, correct the problem by diverting the conversation.
