The unit covers the materials used in classroom. A teacher can use either authentic or non-authentic materials. Authentic materials are the ones that are not specifically prepared for the lesson, things like commercials or newspaper articles. Non-authentic materials are materials that are designed by the teacher with the purpose of learning. Also, the teacher should prepare a lesson planning. This would act as a guideline for the teacher himself and for other teachers that might take over the class. Course books are a good tool, but there are a few disadvantages worth mentioning: the teacher might rely to much on them, hence the class might find the lesson unattractive and boring, they do not cover specific problems that come up when teaching different nationalities, they might not spark students' interest, etc. Classroom management is also very important when it comes to teaching children. Teachers should know how to control their voice, gestures, groupings or attention.
