Materials are anything we bring with us to the classroom to aid the teaching process: worksheets, activity sheets, pictures, flash cards, drownings, charts, recordings, real objects, magazines, videos. Authentic material are produced for real purpose not for teaching, non authentic are made especially for teaching purposes. Lesson plan is a working document, it will tell us what should happen throughout the lesson in a series of stages. There should be date, time of the lesson, expected number of students, the context of the lesson, the objectives, anticipated problems for teacher and students. It can be ESA or EP stages plan. Book resources: students book, workbook, cassettes, teachers book, other published materials. Course book advantages: provides graded syllabus, balanced mix of grammar, vocabulary and skill work, provides security for both students and teachers, offered continuity and progress, offeres many good ideas for the inexperienced teachers. Course book disadvantages: not always fit the specific needs and interests, only use of course book can be predictable and boring for the students. Options for course book use: omit, replace, supplement, adapt. Using the Internet: teachers can use it to find materials and information for own planning and development purposes, can direct students to various ethnic sites on it. Classroom management: rigid teacher control, little to no teacher control, controlled active. Teaching style should be flexible and adapt to the situation. Use voice, gesture, eye contact, grouping students, use names, give attention, monitor, give clear instructions and feedback.
