Unit 6. Past Tenses, I have learnt evaluating this four Tenses which are Past simple tense expressed completed actions in the past. the second is Past Continuous tense indicates that a certain action was in progress at a particular time in past. Third, Past perfect tense first past action and the fourth, Past perfect tense which first continuous past action. We can use this tenses by evaluating a simple sentences, by having some of examples. For the Past simple, "We received the package this morning. In this sentence it tells that the subject is WE and the verb is RECEIVED so it tells that the actions are completed in the past. however, we also need to pay attention to the irregular verbs we need to memorize it so that we can properly use it to the past simple tenses. The example for the Past Continuous is "I was having dinner with my family when the doorbell rang. Here we indicate that the subject is I and the auxialiary be is "was" and "having" is the verb added by ing. The next example for Past perfect is "Joel rushed to his boss office, but he had gone home already so in the sentence it indicates that the action was in progress at the time of the past. We use the form of subject "Joel" plus "had" and "gone" as past participle. For the Past Perfect Continuous example is "She had been waiting for two hours when the doctor finally arrived. so the form is subject plus had plus been plus verb plus ing so "She" is the subject, then we add "had been" plus the verb with ing of "waiting.
