This was easier for me than the present tense unit. The rules are effectively the same, and having familiarized myself with these terms in the prior unit I felt much more comfortable with these. This clashes with my recollection of learning Spanish- I learned present tense first, found it easy, and then really struggled with past tense. I wonder if it's recommended to teach present and past together, rather than with a long break between (as was the case for my Spanish class). I like the example of the detective game- that strikes me as a fun, creative way to practice these tenses.
