The past tense was very similar to the present tense, particularly with all the rules, as well as the irregular forms of the verbs for example be-was, catch-caught, do-did etc. The most useful "rule" that I learnt was that any past perfect tense has a 'had' in it. From what i understand the future tense will follow a similar set of rules.
